Jen - I remember on your blog you wrote down baby things (mostly Alex) that you didn't want to forget. And I'm realizing I will totally forget all this unless I write it down. And they will eventually be the most precious things to me (I still love to read baby Alex quotes), so I have to start
Early baby talk
Wong - water
Bong - bath
later water was Woggen (I think he passed this one onto Stella)
Ambawars - animals
Check-o-bop - ketchup
And these days...
I don't hink (instead of think) so...
And some pretty good quotes:
He is always asking "what was that sound?" Or "what was that noise?" And once he asked Fred at 6 am what that noise was, Fred didn't know and Freddie said "I think it was a deer crossing his arms."
Does hot chocolate come from thunder?
Every morning when he sees Al Roker do the weather, he yells with delight, "It's Barack Obama!" and I cringe a little.
Freddie gets really upset if people are using other people's things. Like if Fred checks his email on my computer Freddie yells "DADDY, THAT'S MOMMY'S COMPUTER!!!"
Freddie is really into either being your doctor or hair stylist. He rats your hair with combs, puts various doll furniture in the knots and when you complain about it hurting, he leans his head around the side of your face and says "but it DOESN'T hurt. Don't worry about it!" Or he'll tell you he isn't going to make you beautiful, but he'll make you special. Which is true.
He is pretty manipulative. When we are driving home for lunch he'll say...
"it's pretty bright out." (all innocently)
Me: Yeah, sure is.
"It's not night time is it?"
Me: No.
"It's not sleepy time, right?"
He's telling you the logic of it, and honestly, it's pretty sound.
This one made me feel guilty. I was checking my email and Freddie had had enough of me being on my latptop and he said "close your computer and be my friend!" Ouch. I'll be updating this in the evenings from now on.
And this one was sweet. Or manipulative. I let him have a second smoothie from the fridge and he goes, "aww...Mama, you're my sweetie pie."
And finally, this afternoon before his nap he was asking when we are going to Thanksgiving in NC. He is really excited about seeing his cousins and every day wonders if today is the day we're going. His favorite person in the world is (Alex - no offense, I'm sure when Freddie gets a couple years older and less enamored by glitter and tap dancing girls, this will be you) Molly. I know this because I asked him who he loves more, me or Molly. Molly! he says without pause. I asked him why and he told me, "because she is so sparkly." Awwww....she sure is.
Molly also happens to be the best Freddie baby sitter in the world. She can make him eat, brush his teeth, get dressed and go to bed. She is a very conscientious babysitter and holds his hand even if they are just walking from one room to another. One time, at the Purple House, she came downstairs from putting him to bed and she was on the landing of the stairs. I was talking to her and she interrupted me with a "stop talking" finger to mouth gesture. Hearing him still talking upstairs, she runs up, opens his door, says some curt words to him, shuts the door and comes back down. "I'm getting tired of this!" she told me. We are trying to get Molly to just CONSIDER dropping out of elementary school to be a full time nanny.
Meanwhile, Alex is SO GREAT with babies. He is so sweet with baby Jack and talks to him and keeps him amused.
I'm the luckiest Mommy and the luckiest Aunt.
